Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey Update
Wolverines edge Hawks

Nov. 27--Justin Longley scored twice and set-up another as the K&A Wolverines edged the Northern Hawks 5-4 in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League play Thursday at the Tournament Centre.

Riley Cervan opened the scoring for the Hawks six minutes into the contest before Longley tied it up six minutes later for the only other goal in the first period.

K&A would strike three times in the middle frame to take a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes as Brent Winkworth tallied twice and Will Moore added the other.

Mike Mapledoram and Chris Holomego would both strike on the power play in the first four minutes of the third period to make it close, but Longley buried the eventual game-winner with 7:52 left.

Michael Vis would pull the Hawks to within one with four minutes left, but that's as close as they would get.

Kirk Bodnar faced 43 shots in a losing cause in net for the Hawks while Davis Buchanan picked up the win for the Wolverines making 21 saves.

League play resumes Friday when the Mitsubishi Motors Kings travel to Nipigon to take on the home town Elks. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
