Eagles handle Hawks 6-2

Oct. 26--Jordan Carne and Dallas Allaire both had one goal, two assist games leading the Superior Eagles to a 6-2 triumph over the Northern Hawks in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League pla Sunday afternoon at the Tournament Centre.

Cole Saunders, Greg Trichilo and Allaire gave the visiting Eagles a 3-0 lead after the first period.

Riley Cerven got the Hawks on the board with a power play tally 2:38 into the middle stanza, but the Eagles would tack on three more markers Tyler Megan, Carne and Myles Melchers before the intermission to give them an insurmountable lead.

Gavin MacVicar added one for the Hawks midway through the third to round out the scoring.

Jayme Brattengeier had 25 saves in picking up the win for the Eagles who pumped 44 shots on Hawks netminder Michael Skirving and Kirk Bodnar.

League play resumes Wednesday when the Mitsubishi Motors Kings host the K&A Wolverines at Fort William First Nation Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
