Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey Update
Tournament semifinals set

Oct. 4--The semifinals are now set in the Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League preseason tournament going on at the Tournament Centre. The K&A Wolverines will meet the Superior Eagles while the Northern Hawks meet the Mitsubishi Motors Kings with both contests going Sunday morning.

K&A, the Hawks and Kings all finished with 3-1 records with the club's ending first, second and third respectively in the tie breaker. The Eagles were fourth at 1-3 and the Nip-Rocks did not advance to the playoff round ending with an 0-4 record.

Game one of the day on Saturday saw the Eagles double up the Elks 4-2.

Jordan Carne tallied twice for his side in the win while Jacob Nolan and Cam Gross had the others. Jayme Brattengeier was the winning goaltender with 24 stops.

Jesse Boucher and Travis Komar replied for Nip-Rock.

In the second match of the day the Kings handed K&A their first loss in the tourney with a 3-1 triumph.

Sam Dubinsky, Josh Elvish and Alan Tronsen scored for the major midgets as Spencer Malone kicked out 23 shots to record the win between the pipes.

David Renzi had the lone marker for the Wolverines and Jordan George suffered the loss in goal.

In the evening matches the Hawks dumped Nip-Rock 6-1 while the Kings handled the Eagles 6-2.

Matt Raynak, Jerry Franzese, Jol Smith, Chris Campbell, George Ossachuk & Michael Vis found the mark for the Hawks while Mike Jakovic converted on a first period penalty shot for the lone Elks effort.

Todd Skirving, Jeremy Yocum, Andrew Wiebe, Cody Kostecki, Spencer Hogan and Dubinsky scored for the Kings in this one.

Greg Trichilo had both goals for the Eagles.
