Wolverines crowned Jr. B champs

March 30--The K&A Wolverines are Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League champions for a second year in a row after defeating the Northern Hawks 6-3 Sunday evening at the Tournament Centre.

K&A Got two goals in each period en route to the win while the Hawks had one marker is each frame.

Sean Spenrath and Luke DeCal tallied in the opening frame for the Wolverines while Curtis Sandberg replied for the Hawks.

Nico Anderson and Carlton Ylinen had power play efforts for K&A in the middle stanza and Ryan Beese scored for the Hawks.

Wolverines goaltender Jason Jaundoo foiled a penalty shot attempt that could have tied the contest in the third period after Matt Mitchell buried one during a man advantage that made the score 4-3.

Brent Winkworth and Stephen Raynak added late goals for K&A to wrap up the scoring on the night.

Jaundoo made 23 saves to earn the win between the pipes while Kirk Bodnar faced 40 shots in the Hawks net.

The Wolverines claimed the 8-point final 8-4 and will now move on to represent the league at the Western Canadian Jr. B championship next month in Selkirk, Man.
