Hawks crush Flames 12-1

March 2 --The Northern Hawks had plenty of offense to go around Sunday night as they crushed the North End Flames 12-1 in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League action at Delaney Arena.

League-leading scorer Curtis Sandberg tallied twice in the victory as did Ryan Beese and Jerry Franseze.

Travis Blackburn, Brian Sippila, Ryan McInerney, Matt Mitchell, Rory Romano and Michael Vis all added singles in the rout. Vis also dished out four assists for a four-point night as he moved into the top 10 among overall point producers.

Cody Pelletier
made 23 saves to pick up the win in goal for the Hawks in a game that saw his side hold intermission leads of 4-0 and 9-0.

Kameron Kuzyk dashed Pelletier's shutout bid in the final minute scoring on the power play with just 43 seconds remaining.

Matt Morin and Mac Potter both saw action in the North End net in this one as they saw 50 totals shots fired in their direction.

League resumes Tuesday when the Hawks play their final regular season home game against their first round playoff opponent the Nipigon Elks at the Tournament Centre. Game time is 8 p.m.
