Eagles rally for victory

Jan. 20--Greg Trichilo scored twice and chipped in with an assist Sunday as the Superior Eagles rallied for a convincing 8-2 victory over the North End Flames in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League action at the Tournament Centre.

It was the home side Flames who jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by Kameron Kuzyk and Brendan Levanto.

The Eagles roared to life in the second period scoring seven times in a 10-minute span to blow the game open.

Along with Trichilo's pair, the Eagles also got markers from Cam Gross, Curtis Atkinson, Jordan Nabigon, Steve McParland and Jaret LeClair in the frame.

Eric Letourneau rounded out the scoring in the third period on an assist by league-leading point producer Ben Gamache who had three helpers in the contest.

Mike Trichilo faced 25 shots in picking up the win in net for the Eagles while Flames starter Mac Potter suffered the loss. Mike Skirving also saw some time between the pipes as the North End duo saw 39 shots fired on net.

League play resumes Tuesday as the Northern Hawks host the Nipigon Elks at the Tournament Centre. Game time is 8 p.m.
