Eagles, Wolverines battle to 2-2 tie

Jan. 19--Steve Raynak's goal with 11:35 remaining proved to be the equalizer as the K&A Wolverines battled to a 2-2 tie with the Superior Eagles in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League action Saturday evening at the Tournament Centre.

Kyle Breukleman opened the scoring for the Eagles at 16:10 of the first period striking on the power play.

K&A would knot it up just over two minutes later with a man advantage marker of their own as Larry Johanson beat Eagles netminder Thomas Gratz.

Jordan Carne put the visiting Eagles back on top with the only goal of the middle stanza converting on the power play once again midway through the period.

Raynak then tied it in the third period to wrap up the scoring on the night.

Gratz faced 41 shots in net for the Eagles while Kelly Heikkila made 38 saves between the pipes for the Wolverines.

The Eagles wrap-up their weekend road trip to Thunder Bay Sunday as they take on the North End Flames in a 5 p.m. start back at the Tournament Centre.
