Hawks, Wolverines pick up road wins |
Nov. 16-- The Northern Hawks and K&A Wolverines both picked up road wins Friday in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League play as the Hawks edged the hometown Nipigon Elks 6-5 while K&A doubled up the Superior Eagles 6-3 in Marathon.
The first place Wolverines began a three-game road trip to Marathon as Adrian Cordes tallied twice in the win while Sean Spenrath, Luke DeCal, Nico Anderson and David Renzi scored for the Wolverines as Jason Jaundoo picked up the win in goal.Greg Trichilo, Jordan Carne and Ben Gamache replied for the Eagles with Mike Trichilo suffering the loss in net.
In Nipigon Travis Komar's five-point night wasn't enough as they fell to the visiting Hawks. Komar had three goals and two assists in the loss while Mitch Joyce had a goal and three helpers. Evan Stewart had the other marker for Nipigon while Cody Junttola suffered the loss in goal.
Rory Romano had two goals while Paul Drombolis, Mark Menei, Brian Sippila and Michael Vis added singles.
Kirk Bodnar was the winning goaltender.The Wolverines and Eagles meet again Saturday evening in a 7:30 p.m. start at Marathon Arena.
