Hawks in romp over Flames

Nov. 11-- It was the Northern Hawks in a romp Sunday evening in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League action at Delaney Arena as they crusied to a 16-2 win over the North End Flames.

Rory Romano had a hat trick in the win while Mario Figliomeni, Basil Goodchild, Jari Pihelgas and Lukas Olson added two goals apiece. Matt Mitchell, Ryan McInerney, Tyler Smith, Paul Drombolis and Mark Menei had the other markers for the Hawks.

Taylor Riley and Erik Hjorth scored for the Flames in the set-back.

Cody Pelletier only faced 13 shots in earning the victory in goal for the Hawks while Mac Potter suffered the loss for North End in the start before being replaced by Andrew Biscardi. The Flames duo saw 45 shots fired at them.

League play resumes Nov. 16 on two fronts as the Hawks head to Nipigon to play the home town Elks while the first place K&A Wolverines travel to Marathon for the the first of three weekend contests against the Superior Eagles. Both games Friday get underway at 7:30 p.m.
