Oct. 11--Adrian Cordes scored twice and added an assist as the K&A Wolverines doubled up the Northern Hawks 4-2 Thursday in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League action at the Tournament Centre.
Wolverines captain Curtis Dowswell opened the scoring 8:36 into the contest striking on the power play on a set-up from Cordes.
The Hawks then struck for two quick goals just 11 seconds apart before the second period was four minutes old on markers by Kris Hardy and Curtis Sandberg.
Cordes then tied it a little over three minutes later scoring shorthanded before potting the eventual game-winner five minutes after that with an unassisted effort.
Corey Fortier wrapped up the goal count on the night just 17 seconds into the final frame getting the Wolverines second shorthanded tally of the evening.
Kelly Heikkila made 23 saves picking up the win in goal while Kirk Bodnar, who faced 40 shots, suffered the loss in net for the Hawks.
League play resumes Friday evening as K&A travels to Nipigon for a 7:30 p.m. game vs. the hometown Elks at Nipigon Arena.
